Seed Starting Workshops, Floral Design Workshops, Writing Workshops, and More!

We offer a variety of small, intimate workshops here on our Farm. In the spring we offer seed starting workshops. In the spring and summer we offer a number of floral design workshops, as well as writing and reflection workshops offered against the restful, inspiring background of our seasonal local flowers.

In the Fall we offer dahlia workshops, and may occasionally offer more writing workshops, pumpkin painting classes for adults and kids, and more. Check this page regularly to see what offers we have coming up!

Seed Starting:

Join us for an easy peasy seed starting workshop. We’ll come together to start a variety of vegetable and flower seeds to get your garden growing! We’ll discuss whether soil blocking or other methods are right for you and the plants you want to grow. We’ll provide the seeds and supplies for a number of different vegetables and flowers. You’ll leave with 18-24 of your own plants started, and thorough instruction on how to care for your new seedlings and plant them out. It’s everything you need to get your garden started!

Includes light refreshments.

Note: Dress warmly, as this workshop takes place entirely outside. If rain/snow the workshop will be held on the ground floor of our barn but the barn doors will be open for airflow. If the weather is very bad the workshop may be rescheduled for a different day.

Dates: March and April, TBD
Cost: $75 pp

Plotting with the Peonies and Pollinators:

Join celebrated fiction writing teacher Daniel David Wallace as he leads a quiet, one day workshop all focused on learning about the character first plot. Spend some time writing on your own amongst our peony field, or other flower fields, as you work on your own writing, and come together for a light, fun, group share at the end of the day. A light lunch and refreshments will be provided.

Space is limited and this workshop is expected to sell out quickly!

Dates: June TBD

Cost: $300 pp

Celebrating Seasonal Sunflowers:

Join us on the farm for a seasonally inspired garden-to-vase designed arrangement tutorial featuring sunflowers as our focal flowers. All the flowers we use will be grown here at the farm. You’ll have a chance to view our fields, and then we’ll sit down to make an arrangement together. Price includes a mason jar and the flowers you’ll use, as well as light refreshments.

This takes place on a working flower farm, so you are encouraged to dress with the idea that you’ll be outside, walking over uneven terrain if you choose to take the (short) farm tour.

TBD in July

Celebrating Seasonal Dahlias:

At Sea Salt Blooms we grow over 400 dahlias and over 50 different types. Join us for a workshop where we learn about the history of the dahlia plant, sample some edible food and drink featuring dahlias, and put together a mason jar arrangement focused on showcasing this empress of late summer, the dahlia. A cocktail and a mocktail option will be provided.
